Enriching Relationships with a Unique Toolbox for Love
When we spot broken items inside our homes, we instantly look for that trusty old toolbox to fix these items. Imagine if there was such a repair kit for relationships—how convenient that would be! As someone who went through challenging situations with her boyfriend of thirteen years and now husband, Alexandra Schelling realized it takes more than love to nourish a healthy relationship.
Count on the fact that they went through a long-distance relationship for more than four years—this remarkable feat is worth celebrating for couples who endured sacrifices while apart. Her experiences taught her valuable insights that led to the creation of Toolbox for Love, where she coaches individuals and couples to nurture more stability and peace in their relationships.
This life and relationship coach, known to many as Alex, believes that developing skills is an essential ingredient in creating and maintaining a healthy relationship. The ups and downs she had from her experience inspired her to learn how to navigate through this journey. Fortunately, her hard work paid off when she and her partner recently tied the knot in 2021 and moved from Switzerland to Singapore to start an exciting chapter as a married couple.
I am deeply honored to have Alex with me for a meaningful chat and discover how she started her journey as a digital entrepreneur who paved her way to a blossoming career as a coach for love and relationships.
Facing a Fork in the Road
Alex drew a smile when asked about switching careers. “Initially, I didn’t exactly know what I wanted to do,” she admitted. She was offered a new position abroad at the company she was working in at the time, but Covid-19 became an impediment to that outline.
“When the pandemic hit, I was left with limited options. Imagine that you have just flown to a new place but only to come back because of the lockdown. I had no choice but to move back in with my parents whose support I’m grateful for,” she explained.
And then she thought about how she enjoyed helping other people in their relationships. “The more I helped friends and family, the more I realized that I loved doing this,” Alex said. She was ecstatic after introducing new relationship tools and skills to people she knew and receiving positive results.
“I thought to myself that we don’t naturally learn how to create healthy, stable, and exciting relationships built to last, although healthy relationships are among the greatest predictors of happiness.
That’s why I came up with the idea for Toolbox for Love: by building your own toolbox, you are equipping yourself with various tools that can be applied to different situations and challenges. You learn practical tools so that when challenges in your relationship arise, you already have these tools to overcome them,” she added.
A One-Woman Team
Just like other budding entrepreneurs, Alex managed her own business from scratch. “When you own your business, you need to stay flexible and open to ideas.” She started her Instagram account @toolboxforlove in mid-2020 while she was still at her corporate job as a side hobby. Friends and family started following her as she consistently showed up by giving helpful relationship tips.
“It’s a journey where you can show up as yourself, share your message and your voice,” said the relationship guru who used to be camera-shy and uncomfortable showing herself on screen. After spending so much time rehearsing and learning from past mistakes, she became more confident and brazen in being herself in front of the lenses.
Alex pens her own content and adds her experiences to spice things up. “Focus on the content you’re creating because that’s your voice. Any content you put out there has to be something you resonate with and feel authentic about. That’s what people will be attracted to,” she added.
Not long after, she became a natural at sharing her content and appealed to many who could relate to her stories. From an audience of less than a thousand, she now has over 50,000 followers on Instagram. Talk about dedication and passion for helping other people – that’s Alex right there!
Nurturing relationships is like growing seeds—you must ensure they get enough water, sunlight, and nutrients for a healthy sprout. Alex’s expertise in love and relationships has guided and influenced thousands of followers to understand how it works.
Her relentless passion for helping individuals and couples unravels her authenticity as a relationship coach. In a world where we face tough challenges, we’re lucky to have someone like Alex who can lead the way to having beautiful and meaningful relationships with our loved ones.
